THE SOUND is the first Japanese studio album by South Korean boy group Stray Kids. It was released on February 22, 2023 with "THE SOUND" serving as the title track.

The physical release comes in one standard version (Regular), two limited versions (A and B), and eight member-specific versions (FC).

Background

The album was announced with a trailer on December 22, 2022.

"THE SOUND" and "There" were released prior as digital singles.

A pop-up store in collaboration with Spotify to commemorate the album was held from February 22 to February 26 in Shibuya 109 in Japan. It included several activities like a stamp collection, a display of songs and handwritten lyrics, a photobooth, and a costume exhibit.

Composition

“	After proving their popularity with their Japanese mini-album "CIRCUS" in June last year, which topped the Oricon Daily Album Chart, the weekly album chart at Tower Records, the largest record store in Japan, the Billboard Japan Weekly Top Album Sales Chart, the Hot Albums Chart, the Artist 100, and was certified platinum by the Japan Recording Industry Association, Stray Kids will release their first full-length album in Japan and expand their mainstream influence. THE SOUND, their first full-length album in Japan, will include seven Japanese original songs : the title track THE SOUND", "Battle Ground," "Lost Me," "DLMLU," "Novel," "Scars," and "There," ; and the Japanese version of "CASE 143" and "CHILL" from the mini-album "MAXIDENT", and the Japanese version of the title track "Thunderous" from the second full-length album "NOEASY". 3RACHA's production team composed of Bang Chan, Changbin, and HAN participated in the writing and composing of the title track, while track 4, "DLMLU," and track 5, "Novel," were written by members Hyunjin and Seungmin, respectively, revealing the group's self-produced aspect.	”
