SLBS x Stray Kids is a series of collaborative products by Stray Kids with South Korean techwear brand SLBS. The collaboration presented Stray Kids and SKZOO themed accessories for Galaxy phones, and other limited Samsung products.
Background[]
Speculations about a group-wide brand deal with Samsung occured when the members (other than Changbin) started using Samsung phones despite being long-time iPhone users, and when Apple products started being blurred out in content.
The collaboration was officially announced on June 28, 2023, at the same time as the campaign "STAR TO GALAXY" which would feature SKZOO-themed accessories for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Z Fold 5 phones.[1] The campaign started with a pop-up store at SLBS Studio in Gangnam, Seoul on June 29, and the collection was launched on July 26 on SLBS' global website.
Other special goods were released, among which a Nachimbong edition of the Galaxy Buds2 Pro [2], a Galaxy Z Flip5 box[3], and a Stray Kids edition of the Galaxy Watch 6.[4]
On August 11, the pop-up store was held in Los Angeles.[5]
The second campaign was announced on January 15, 2024, adding new goods and accessories for the Galaxy S24 phone. The collection was launched on January 19 on SLBS' global website.
Incident and termination of contract[]
SLBS announced that a special fansign, "STAY BLOOM with SLBS : MEET SKZ" would be held in Tokyo, Japan on April 9, 2024.[6] On the day of the event, several people raised concerns about a seemingly illegal auction held during the fansign, reporting that the garments worn by Stray Kids in the brand's online campaign were auctioned for large sums of money once the members and JYPE's staff had left the event. On April 11, the headquarters of SLBS issued an apology, confirming that the garments were indeed sold without the consent of JYPE.[7] Other wrongdoings were suspected, among which the leak of private information.
JYPE did not issue a statement on the matter. However, SLBS products were subsequently blurred out in new content and the members started using their Apple products and iPhones publicly again, suggesting a termination of contract.
