Muddy Water is a song recorded by Stray Kids's Changbin, Hyunjin, HAN and Felix. It is the seventh, last and second unit track from their sixth mini album ODDINARY.

Composition[]

"This is our time to rise and shine. This is our flow so step off the show" is a declaration of war to the established generation that doesn't understand the imagination of Stray Kids. It's the first time we've done a unit combination, but we made the song with more emphasis on rap, and the different colors of the four members make the song new and funnier to listen to.
Stray Kids' Comment
Previously, when writing our rap lines, among all hip-hop genres we usually used trap. This time, we wanted to try a genre we haven't had many opportunities to work with: boom bap. Rather than creating an exciting song that brings up the tension, we wanted to make a song that many people can nod along to and feel the groove. This is how "Muddy Water" was born. [...] We worked on the lyrics in Stray Kids fashion: talking about actions that reject and are against the ways of the current days.

Reviews[]

"Muddy Water" is the perfect playground for Stray Kids' unbeatable rap line. Over an old-school hip-hop beat with hints of jazz, Changbin, Hyunjin, HAN, and Felix spit some of their best bars yet (Felix's reference to Demon Slayer, anyone?), and showcase their pliable, unique styles. Comparing themselves to fresh rainwater that comes to wash the mud away, they state: "This is our flow, just step off the show" — a reaffirmation of Stray Kids' innovative verve and rule-breaking guts.
