Background[]
On December 9, 2017 aired the finale of the survival show Stray Kids which confirmed that all the members would debut as Stray Kids together. On December 28, JYP Entertainment announced pre-orders for "Mixtape", an album containing all the songs composed and performed by the trainees during the show, to be released on January 8, 2018.
Composition[]
“ | Like their name, which means "to stray out of one's way", Stray Kids showcase their distinctive personalities and freedom through their music. In Stray Kids, a survival show documenting their debut process, the members not only wrote songs but also participated in various aspects of production, concept, and performance through five missions, and secured their debut with a lineup that was judged to be the most complete. Ahead of their official debut, Stray Kids released Mixtape, a seven-track album filled with these self-written songs. Stray Kids cover a variety of genres, from electronica to hip hop, and give each song a new sound and fresh performance in an album full of raw, unrefined potential. |
