IN LIFE (IN生 insaeng) is the first repackage album by South Korean boy group Stray Kids. It is the repackage of their first studio album, GO LIVE. It was released on September 14, 2020 with "Back Door" serving as the title track.
Background[]
The album features the unit songs "We Go" (from 3RACHA), "Wow" (from DANCERACHA) and "My Universe" (from VOCALRACHA) that were first performed during the Seoul concert of their world tour "District 9: Unlock" on November 23, 2019.
Composition[]
“ | With their first full-length album, 'GO LIVE', Stray Kids proved their unrivaled presence by showcasing the essence of the 'malataste genre' that is unforgettable once tasted. They continue their rise through a repackaged album with a deeper flavor.
The title track, "Back Door," is like an invitation to come in and join them if you want to continue enjoying the excitement of their previous song, "God's Menu". The thrill of entering a space off-limits to all but those in the know, appeals to the tastes of global K-pop fans. The song utilizes various instruments such as acoustic and synth to create a festival atmosphere, and unique musical devices in the middle of the song make it more colorful. The group's performance is also noteworthy for its street vibe and playfulness. The tug-of-war choreography that goes well with the first verse's lyrics, "Hey gosh," and the powerful dance moves in the chorus, "Authorized personnel only here," are eye-catching. The choreography, which is reminiscent of playing riverboat, makes it easy and fun for global fans to follow along. The costumes, which are a modern interpretation of traditional hanbok, show off the exquisite oriental beauty, making it even more fun to watch. The music video also shows Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. dancing together with many people, raising the tension of the viewers. In addition, special filming equipment such as robotic arms and MCC (Motion Control Camera) were used to create differentiated scenes by moving freely in time and space. The new album starts with "The Tortoise and the Hare," a full version of their first album intro song "GO LIVE," followed by the title track, "Back Door," "B Me," "Any," and "Ex" on tracks 1 through 5. To these were added the unit songs from Stray Kids' first solo concert, "District 9 : Unlock", and from track 9 onwards, songs from their first full-length album "GO LIVE" that captured the hearts of K-pop fans around the world. In particular, the unit songs presented on the stage of 'District 9 : Unlock' are a great surprise for fans. From "We Go" (Bang Chan, Changbin, HAN), which warmed up the atmosphere with its colorful rap at the concert, to "Wow" (Lee Know, Hyunjin, Felix), a song full of excitement reminiscent of first love, to "My Universe" (Seungmin, I.N. feat. Changbin), with its calm piano melody and lyrical emotional vocals. The eight members of Stray Kids participated in the writing, composing, and arranging of each album, led by their production group 3RACHA, consisting of Bang Chan, Changbin, and HAN. On this repackaged album, they also participated in writing and composing the songs, revealing their musical growth, as well as their brilliant collaborations with famous artists at home and abroad. |

Reviews[]
“ | To get an idea of Stray Kids’ nascent but prolific career, look no further than the group’s two 2020 Korean albums: Go Live, released in June and consisting of 14 tracks, and the repackaged version, titled In Life, released three months later with eight new tracks. This rate of output is made all the more impressive by Stray Kids’ heavy involvement in songwriting, which three members—Bang Chan, Changbin and Han, who produce music under the sub-unit name 3RACHA—have taken part in since the act’s pre-debut songs. Both Go Live and In Life offer a feast of dynamic hooks and festive vibes, but In Life has the slight upper hand in no small part because it introduced the lead single “Back Door”—a high-energy track brimming with pizzazz (and one of TIME’s 10 Best Songs of 2020). The other additions, which include both group songs and sub-unit releases that create more space to highlight each member’s vocal color, see a narrative weaved across cutting off old ties (“Ex,” “B Me”) and strengthening new bonds (“My Universe.”) | ” |

Trivia[]
- "IN LIFE" was written on a sign at the beginning of the music video of "God's Menu". Additionally, the sentence "GO LIVE IN LIFE" was written on the CD of the album GO LIVE. This led some fans to predict that an album called "IN LIFE" would be released soon after.
