Authorized personnel only here back door

Back Door is a song recorded by South Korean boy group Stray Kids. It is the second and title track from their repackage album IN LIFE.

Composition[]

It's very upbeat and energetic, with a festival or carnival feel to it. It's intense and uplifting at the same time, and with the lyrics "Authorized personnel only", it's a great performance piece.

Reviews[]

Contemporary pop out of Korea is almost impossible to classify today. “Back Door,” from Stray Kids, is a prime example: there's not a single musical style it doesn't exuberantly co-opt, in an artful Frankenstein that's as catchy as it is complex. There are dramatic airhorns, slinky R&B breaks, jazz interludes, a trap chorus, electronic beats that would rile up festival crowds and others more likely to be found in underground clubs. It's hard not to become enraptured by the song's sheer bravado—both in its multi-layered production and the brassy energy of the eight performers. Stray Kids, who debuted just three years ago, are the latest act poised to break out in an increasingly globalized and free-wheeling pop industry, one that South Korea in particular has been eagerly pioneering. That “Back Door” starts and ends on a cheeky note in English—”Hey, you wanna come in?”—only drives home its willingness to welcome everyone into the fold.—RB

Is there a sonic motif that had as big a year in K-pop as The Funky Bassline? The Funky Bassline featured prominently in countless boy group releases, and while many acts were content with letting TFB do all the heavy lifting, Stray Kids' adherence to their “more is more” M.O. gave it a much needed makeover. Co-produced by members Bang Chan, Changbin and HAN, “Back Door” welcomes you in with TFB and ensnares you with its cheeky on-the-nose door creaks, its cooly confident vocal performances, and a stomping, floor-filling EDM finale. On “Back Door,” Stray Kids tighten their production without eschewing any exuberance, transforming their signature bombastic EDM into something more sophisticated. — M.M.

Trivia[]

  • "Back Door" was rejected by KBS Broadcasting standards for mentioning the brand "SECOM". During Music Bank and M!Countdown stages, the word was changed to 경보음 gyeongboeum ("alarm sound").
  • The choreography contains a lot of cultural references to games like tug of war or Munjigi Nori ("doorkeeper game"). The moment when Hyunjin and Seungmin join their fingers is a nod to the painting The Creation of Adam by Michel Angelo.
  • The music video features people wearing white hoodies, a nod to their debut music video "District 9" in which Stray Kids were wearing white hoodies themselves, meaning that more and more people are joining their empire.[4]
  • "Back Door" is one of the Stray Kids songs that was covered the most by other artists, such as BTOB, KARD members Jiwoo and Inseong, CRAVITY, Boys Planet, MCND, TRENDZ or E'LAST.
