ATE is the ninth mini album by South Korean boy group Stray Kids. It was released on July 19, 2024 with "Chk Chk Boom" serving as the title track.
Background[]
On April 16, 2024, media outlets reported that Stray Kids were expected to make a comeback in June.[1] On May 9, Star News reported that Stray Kids' comeback would take place on July 19.[2] The company did not confirm the news, but later on June 6, WKorea further confirmed that the comeback would take place on this date.[3] On June 19, JYPE released a trailer announcing that Stray Kids would come back on July 19 with their ninth mini album ATE.
While releasing teasers for the album, Stray Kids performed as headliners at I-Days Milano 2024 and BST Hyde Park 2024 on July 12 and 14, respectively. A pop-up store was also held to commemorate the album from July 15 to August 1.
The album was promoted on music shows with the title track "Chk Chk Boom" on July 19, 20 and 26, with further music show appearances being cancelled due to 2024 Summer Olympics coverage.
Exclusive digital versions of the album were released for the United States only on July 23. A Pac-Man derived online game was released on July 29 and allowed players to win ATE-themed phone wallpapers.[4]
On August 7, the group released the music video for "JJAM", and further promoted the album by performing both "Chk Chk Boom" and "JJAM" on music shows on August 8, 10 and 11.
The group held its twelfth mini fanmeeting after the pre-recording of "Chk Chk Boom" at Show! Music Core on August 10.

Trivia[]
- It is the first time that the comeback date is revealed by media outlets before the trailer release.
- A part of the comeback trailer was inserted in the opening of Episode 56 of SKZ CODE released hours before, giving a spoiler.
- The teasers for the album were released at 11PM KST, rather than midnight.
- "ATE" is a phonetic wordplay on "Eight", the number of members in the group.
- "MOUNTAINS" was cited the most by the members as the song they want to spotlight besides the title track.[11]
